Frequently Asked Questions
Because there are always questions!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
The program is open to children, ages 5-10 who are Swim Team/ Mini Dolphins members and/or are enrolled in Tennis Clinics. Children must be potty-trained and water safe (children will not be permitted to swim unless in team practice). Please do not bring sick children. If children are too sick for practice they may not attend Dolphin Days.
HOW DO I SIGN UP? HOW DO I PAY?
This year, sign-ups and payments will be through Eventbrite. Families will receive an invite via Meadow communications. The daily rate is $22 and the weekly rate is $106. All Eventbrite fees are included in these totals. Payment will be by credit card at the time of registration.
ARE CANCELLATIONS REFUNDABLE?
A reservation is refundable ONLY if your space can be filled by someone on the waitlist. If you need to cancel, submit a cancellation on Eventbrite. If your space can be filled by someone on the waiting list, you will receive a refund; however, if we cannot fill your space, you will not be reimbursed.
HOW DO I GET ON THE WAITLIST?
If all the spaces are reserved for a given day, Eventbrite will offer the option to sign up for the waitlist. If a space opens up, you will be notified via email.
HOW ARE DROP-INS HANDLED?
You may check with the Dolphin Days staff in the morning, in person, to see if it is possible to drop-in that day. If we have enough staff, we will be happy to have your child join us.
Drop-ins will still need to register through Eventbrite.
IS THERE A DISCOUNT FOR SIGNING UP FOR MULTIPLE WEEKS OR FOR MULTIPLE CHILDREN?
There is a discount of $4 per week if you sign-up for an entire week. We do not offer a sibling discount.
WHAT IS THE SUPERVISOR / CHILD RATIO?
Dolphin Days will maintain at least a 1:8 staff to child ratio. On a typical day, there will be a 1:6 ratio. There will be 24 children and four staff (the director , assistant director (adult), and two counselors (age 14-18) on average. Since there is usually one age group "out" at swim/tennis practice throughout the day the number present at any give time will usually be fewer.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY LIKE?
Age groups are escorted to and from swim practice and tennis clinics at their regularly scheduled times.
9:00-9:15am Check-in. Parents/guardians may do "drop off" check-in on the front lawn.
9:00-10:00am Hands-on activities (arts and crafts projects).
10:30-11:15am Interactive activities (cheers and cooperative outdoor games).
11:15am-12:00pm Game time (board and card games).
12:15pm-1:00pm Lunch (staggered by age group based on practice schedule).
1:00pm All age groups except 6&U swimmers are signed out.
1:30pm 6&Us finish swim practice and are checked out byfor parent check-out.
DO I NEED TO PACK A SNACK AND LUNCH FOR MY CHILD?
Dolphin Days will provide a mid morning snack. You can pack a lunch or order lunch through the Meadow Kitchen (snack bar). All packed lunches should be nut-free. There will be two Dolphin Bait options in the morning to choose from at sign in. The cost for any Meadow Kitchen lunches will be deducted from your 'My Mealtime' account. Please pack a water bottle.
Dolphin Days snacks will be nut-free. If your child has an allergy of any kind, please be sure to indicate any allergies on the emergency form and alert the staff.
HOW DO DROP OFF AND PICK UP WORK?
Parents/guardians may "drop off" on the front lawn between 9:00-9:15am. After 9:15am, an adult must walk the child into the gated pool area and sign in with a Dolphin Days staff member. If someone other than the parent will be dropping off or picking up the child, this caregiver must be authorized by the parent in advance. Pick up will take place inside the pool area at the bottom left side of the deck stairs.
Children under 9 years old may not be left at Meadow before or after Dolphin Days without an adult guardian.
THE 6&UNDER SWIMMERS DON’T FINISH UNTIL 1:30, BUT CAMP ENDS AT 1:00, HOW DOES PICK UP WORK?
6&U swim practice is from 1:00-1:30pm. The Dolphin Days staff will be cleaning up during that time. They will be the adult point of contact during the 6&U practice in the event of any issues. 6&U swim parents will sign their child out of Dolphin Days at 1:30pm pick up time. Please arrive promptly at the 1:30 sign-out and pick up. We suggest you come a few minutes early to be ready to sign-out and assist your child when practice is over. Families will be charged a $10 fee if they are not present to sign out children at 1:30pm.
WHO ANSWERS PARENT QUESTIONS AND CONCERNT?
The Dolphin Days Director can address verbal parent questions. Electronic communications should be directed to the Dolphin Days Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org. This program does not fall under swim/tennis coaches or swim/tennis chairs.
